Golf has been a popular activity within Kirkcaldy Probus Club for many years. There are golf outings arranged at different courses in Fife throughout the months of May to October each year. Various trophies are competed for annually. At each outing 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes are awarded as well as prizes for nearest the pin and the longest drive. The benefits of playing golf are many. Dr Andrew Murray, from the Physical Activity for Health research centre at Edinburgh University, said: "We know that the moderate physical activity that golf provides increases life expectancy, has mental health benefits and can help prevent and treat more than 40 major chronic diseases such as heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, and colon cancer.” It’s also a social outing for our members where many friendships are formed and the world is put to rights!
